The second-generation of the laptop is just 8.98mm (0.35-inch) thin and weighs 2.5 pounds. It sports a 14-inch 1080p touch-enabled display housed inside a 13-inch aluminum frame. It’s powered by a seventh-generation ultra-low voltage Intel Core i7 processor that allows the laptop to have a fanless design. You can get this device with 8GB of memory and 256GB SSD for internal storage. As for ports, they’re limited due to the device form factor, but you’ll find two USB Type-C, headphone jack, and there’s a fingerprint reader with support for Windows Hello. Also, the Swift 7 has an eSIM built-in for 4G LTE connectivity on the go. If your mobile carrier doesn’t support eSIM, you can use the nano SIM card slot on the side. Unlike the previous version, the new Swift 7 includes a backlit keyboard. A precision touchpad is also included, but it won’t click as you press it. Instead, you’ll get a click feedback sound, which is not traditional, but it’s not something you can’t get used to either. This time around the Acer is positioning the wireless antennas on the exterior side of the lid to prevent the Wi-Fi signal from getting interrupted by the metal in the frame. Acer claims up to 10 hours of battery life, which is good, but not impressive, as on new Always Connected PCs, we’re starting to see multiple days of battery life. The Acer Swift 7 laptop isn’t cheap, pricing starts at $1699, but it’s not extremely expensive if you’re looking for the latest and most portable device in the market. Acer isn’t saying when exactly the Swift 7 will be available, but it says that it should be hitting shelves sometime in March of 2018.
