The role of silent updates is to make completely effortless for the end-user, performing all the tasks in the background. With this new feature users running Windows will not longer be bothered by the Windows’ User Account Control panel (UAC) to install updates of the software. The Windows UAC was built as a security layer and to alert the user when a new program is trying to make change. So, you can imaging that most web browsers today have a rapid release cycle, which can make a little bit annoying be prompt quiet often about a new update ready to install. All this is “fix” with Firefox 12 — the open source browser will install a service that operates in the background, and once you give it permission, it will update future releases as they become available for download. There is not much for this new update, but is something that will make your web experience a little bit better and less annoying.
